Apple and the Sydney Opera House have unveiled a year-long collaboration aimed at fostering Australian art, design, and culture. The partnership focuses on interactive programming for young people and a series of initiatives hosted within the Opera House’s Centre for Creativity, a dedicated space for hands-on artistic participation.
The collaboration will officially launch with Illuminating Creativity, a digital art installation that will transform the eastern Bennelong sails of the Opera House. From March 25–27, the iconic architecture will serve as a canvas for original static and moving-image artworks. The featured pieces were developed using the Tasmanian-born app Procreate on iPad by a group of ten emerging Australian artists.
Community Involvement and Education
As part of the initiative, the public is invited to participate in the creative process. From March 9–15, Apple Store locations across Australia will host free Today at Apple sessions. Participants can use iPads to create their own digital art, with selected works to be included in the final nightly projections starting at 8:30 p.m. on March 25.

Supporting the Next Generation
Beyond the initial light display, the partnership positions Apple as the founding partner of a new international children’s festival scheduled for later this year. The collaboration seeks to integrate technology into the Opera House’s broader programming, enhancing how audiences engage with the performing arts center.
By combining the Opera House’s heritage as a premier cultural institution with modern digital tools, the project aims to lower the barrier to entry for aspiring artists. The year-long schedule will continue to explore the intersection of technology and traditional artistic expression, ensuring the “Everyone’s House” philosophy remains central to the venue’s future.
