Recommended Video: Mao Fujita Performs Mozart’s Piano Concerto

Mao Fujita has extensive experience performing and recording Mozart piano works, as shown in his well-received set of the complete piano sonatas.

In this video, he performs the Piano Concerto No. 23 (K. 488), which includes one of the composer’s best slow movements, with the hr-Sinfonieorchester conducted by Dalia Stasevska.

Fujita adds improvisations to Mozart’s original score, a common practice at the time of the concerto’s composition, but they feel natural and add to the spontaneity of the performance.
